DOÑANA, NATURAL SPACE

The Natural Area of Doñana.-

The Doñana Natural Area is located southwest of the Iberian Peninsula between the mouths of the Tinto and Guadalquivir Rivers. Extensive virgin beaches bathed by the Atlantic Ocean make up its southern limit. Several municipalities of the provinces of Huelva, Seville and Cádiz contribute their territory.
The Natural Space is made up of more than 100,000 hectares protected as a National Park and as a Natural Park. The locality of Matalascañas, limits directly with the National Park, being a magnificent point of departure to visit its coast.
The Doñana Natural Area is considered one of the most important natural protected areas in Europe. A key crossroads for migratory bird routes between the African continent and the European continent, it is also the last refuge for many endangered species.
The uniqueness of Doñana is due to the great diversity of biotopes and species it harbors. In addition to the marsh, an ecosystem characterized by its high productivity, a set of exceptional environmental units converge here: the beach, the mobile dunes and the corrals; the mount with sabinares, cork oaks and pine groves, included under the local denomination of "preserves"; numerous lagoons scattered among the vegetation and a transition zone that links and separates all, the vera.

The Natural Park area that lies between the towns of Matalascañas and Mazagón, known as the "Asperillo", is one of the most beautiful and unique in Doñana. It is made up of fossil dunes hanging over impressive coastal cliffs of compacted sands, at the foot of which there are magnificent semi-virgin beaches with a very changing dynamic. Access to this area is usually restricted and only walking is allowed on foot. Our company "Doñana Hípica el Pasodoble" makes its equestrian routes precisely in this area, allowing its visitors to enjoy landscapes and sensations that are hard to forget.
